Look The World Straight In The Eye

Do you guys worry about what other people think of you? Worry about “where” you’re supposed to be, as a mom, a homeowner, a dad, a teacher or whatever it is that you do?

When you’re in the middle of it all, when the laundry is in every room of the house and you haven’t slept in weeks and you messed up something at work and there’s no food in the fridge and the kids have karate, CCD, and dance after school- it is so easy to loose sense of who you are.

Trust me I have been there.

Actually, I spend so much time there I have been granted citizenship.

We shouldn’t be afraid to be who we are and where we are at this moment. I have WASTED so much time worrying about who I am supposed to be. Not anymore!

We are all running around in uncharted waters. We have more work and less time for family than the generations before us. Thanks to social media we are in contact with more people then ever before but sadly, we are actually connected to far fewer. The world has changed ten times over since we were children. Have we taken the time to adjust our expectations and what we allow others to expect from us?  It’s time that we do. We deserve to take time EVERY single day to be who we are-where we are, and enjoy it!!!

Be silly. Be smart. Be serious.

Just be you, and enjoy it!

For me that means fighting the urge to compare myself to my friends. I have some pretty amazing friends. Single moms who publish books and travel the world, stay at home moms who happily and seemingly with little effort, make pintrest look like child’s play, full-time working moms who drive over an hour to and from work every day and still make dinner and then there’s me. I am none of that. I used to be this and I used to be that and I’ve tried to be both. But who I am and where I am right now is something different. Something new and in order to be her effectively, I need to be reading, writing, and working out for at least 20 minutes every day. That’s my soul food.

Who are you right now? What fuels your soul? What is going to help you find your magic?
